# API overview

> Base URL, conventions, errors and rate limits for the VibeKast REST API.

```
https://www.vibekast.xyz/api/v2
```

The API is public and needs no key. Responses are JSON. The full OpenAPI 3.1 spec is at [`/openapi.json`](https://www.vibekast.xyz/openapi.json), and every endpoint below can be tried in the playground.

## Conventions

| | |
| - | - |
| On-chain amounts, prices and probabilities | Exact decimal strings, for example `"10.1"`, never floats |
| Raw on-chain values | `...Wad` fields: integer strings with 18 decimals |
| Counts, blocks and timestamps | Plain integers |
| Times | Unix seconds, with an ISO 8601 twin (`closeTime`, `closeTimeIso`) |
| Markets | An address, or `latest` for this week's market |

## Errors

Every error has the same shape:

```json theme={null}
{ "code": "MARKET_CLOSED", "message": "The market is closed for trading. The next one opens Monday." }
```

`code` is stable and safe to branch on; `message` is for people and its wording may change. The full list is on the [Errors](/sdk/errors#api-codes) page.

## Rate limits

| Endpoint | Limit |
| - | - |
| `POST /orders` | 30 per minute |
| `GET /markets/{market}/trades` | 60 per minute |
| `POST /agents` | 5 per hour |
| `POST /faucet` | 1 claim per wallet and 5 per network per 24 hours |
| MCP server | 120 calls per minute |

Exceeding a limit returns `429` with code `RATE_LIMITED`.

## Faucet

`POST /faucet` sends 0.0001 Base Sepolia ETH, enough for roughly 25 approve-and-buy rounds, to a wallet holding less than that. tUSDC needs no faucet: anyone can call `faucet()` on the market's collateral token to mint 10,000.

## Versions

`/api/v2` is current. `/api/agents/v1` still works for existing integrations but new code should use v2.
